I hate stretching. I always have. As a result my muscles and joints are very angry. I can confidently say I probably have the tightest hamstrings you have every seen.

If you work out regularly, or even spend hours sitting at a desk, you've probably experienced tight muscles, sore legs or stiffness that is chronic and painful.

I still don't love to stretch, but I have tried hard to make it part of my workout. One recovery tool that I have grown to love is the foam roller. More specifically the TriggerPoint GRID 1.0 Foam Roller. We have a love-hate relationship but it is a tool I find myself reaching for daily.

I have tried quite a few recovery tools over the years and if there's one piece of fitness equipment I recommend to almost everyone - it's a foam roller.

The TriggerPoint GRID 1.0 Foam Roller has become my go-to recovery tool. It simply works. Whether you're lifting weights, walking for fitness, running or just trying to move better throughout the day - a quality foam roller can make a noticeable difference.

Why Foam Rolling Matters: What Does it Do?

Foam rolling is a form of self myofascial release, which sounds complicated but simply means applying pressure to muscles and connective tissue to reduce tightness. It helps break up areas of tension and trigger points (knots). The benefits are numerous.

• Helps loosen tight muscles

• Increases circulation

• Can improve your workout

performance

• Helps prepare muscles before

exercise

• Supports faster recovery

Why I Love the TriggerPoint GRID 1.0

It is firm, but not painfully hard. Many inexpensive foam rollers are either too soft to be effective or so rigid they're uncomfortable to use. The TriggerPoint GRID 1.0 strikes the perfect balance. It provides enough pressure to release muscle knots without feeling like your rolling on concrete or on a pile of rocks.

The GRID surface actually makes a difference. Unlike smooth foam rollers, the GRID design features different surface patterns that mimic the feel of a massage. This is one of my favorite features of this roller. These different zones apply varying amounts of pressure helping target tight muscles more effectively.

The TriggerPoint GRID 1.0 foam roller does not lose its shape. Through trial and error one of my biggest frustrations I have found - the cheaper foam rollers has been that they flatten over time and extensive use. The GRID has a hollow core and as a result, the roller maintains its firmness even after consistent use.

The GRID comes in several but all sizes are compact enough to store easily, take to the gym and pack for travel. I have even brought my foam roller into work and used it while working at my desk!

How Do I Foam Roller Properly?

Consistency matters. Much more than intensity. You want to focus on rolling slowly, pausing on the tender spots for 20-30 seconds. You want to avoid rolling directly over your bones and joints. Focus on your breathing - slow easy breaths, make sure you are not tensing up. Start with light pressure and gradually increase the intensity.

Is the TriggerPoint GRID 1.0 Worth It?

For me - absolutely. I have purchased plenty of fitness equipment over the years, but this in one item I use consistently. It's durable, easy to store, effective and has become part of my regular recovery routine.

If you are going to buy an affordable and reliable foam roller - I highly recommend the TriggerPoint GRID 1.0.

Recovery often gets overlooked and ignored. I can admit I am guilty of that! I have come to realize that taking care of your muscles is imperative to a healthy and successful fitness journey.

How Often and How Long Should I Foam Roll?

You can safely foam roll daily if you feel that benefits your muscle recovery and reduces stiffness. I try to use the foam roller at least three times a week. Each session only needs to last 5-10 minutes. Find that target areas that need attention and focus on those muscles.

I Have No Regrets

Recovery has become an imperitive part of my fitness routine. I admit it has taken me many years to realize how important muscle recovery, it isn't the most exciting part of fitness - but I can't stress enough how important it is.

The TriggerPoint GRID 1.0 has earned a permanent place in my home gym. I have not regrets in committing to this product. It has helped me so much with my overall muscle recovery after workouts. It is reliable, durable and effective. If you're looking for a recovery tool that wont let you down - this is the foam roller I recommend.
